233  of those who registered in 2019  compleated in 2019. Remember it is never too late to register!

The most popular final munros have been Ben More on Mull (24), Beinn na Lap (18), Ben Lomond (16), Ladhar Behinn (12), Schiehallion (11) and Slioch (9). Ben Lomond and Schiehallion are also very popular first munros.

In the 100th anniversary year of Sir Hugh Munro’s death, the first Hugh Munro compleated on Slioch in August (no 6604).

Most compleationists are from Scotland or other parts of the UK. This year compleationists also came from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, America, Australia, Germany and Norway.

Whilst the average time for doing the munros tends to be over 20 years, a number of munroists savoured their round taking over 50 years (golden munroists). This included possibly our oldest ever compleationist.  Howard Andrew finished age 84 on Sgurr Dubh Mhor. Howard’s round took him 64 years.

There have been over 100 amendments to entries on the list as munroists compleat again or compleat other hill lists. Notably Steve Fallon (1045) compleating his 16th munro round.  Robert MacDonald (375) joined 4 others in compleating a 10th round (the next highest multiple compleation after Steve).

Full House numbers (Munros, Tops, Furths, Corbetts, Graham, Donalds) went up from 55 to 63.

More details for 2019 will be in the 2020 SMC Journal published later this year
